Global Relay - Basic Search
Conducting a Basic Search
To search Global Relay Archive for specific messages based on granular criteria:
-
On the Standard Search page, from the Start Date and End Date fields, select a date range that spans the time and date the messages would have been sent/received.
By default, the date range captures the past seven days.
-
To specify the message types you would like to include in your search, under System Folders in the Folder section, select the checkboxes of the appropriate messages types.
-
In the From and To/Cc/Bcc fields, enter specific senders and/or recipients.
-
In the Keywords field, enter any terms which match against the entire message body, Headers, From/To fields, and any text-based attachments.
NOTE: You can enter up to 1000 characters in the Keywords field.
Click Calculate to display the number of results or click the Search Message Archive button to return your search results.
Tip: For the most relevant results, include as much information as possible in the search fields.
Populating the From and To/Cc/Bcc Fields
When searching for messages with specific user criteria (e.g. aliases, addresses, social media handles, etc.), enter as much information about the message as you can in the From and/or To/Cc/Bcc fields.
If you know the Sender and/or Recipient, enter their address in the appropriate field.
When you enter criteria in both fields, the AND OR radio buttons determine message direction:
-
Select AND to find those messages that include both the sender and recipient.
-
Select OR to find messages that include either the sender or recipient.
Using Search Operators
To assist with searching, Global Relay Archive supports several search operators.
Boolean
Use Boolean operators (i.e. AND, OR, NOT) to separate multiple terms, as outlined in these examples.
-
The AND operator will return messages containing both the words price and cost.
-
The OR operator will return messages containing either the word price or cost.
The NOT operator will return messages containing the word price but not cost.
Wildcard
(*) is a multi-character replacement you can use to search multiple variations of a word. (?) is a single-character replacement you can use to target specific words.
For example, if you are searching for multiple variations of the word ‘trade’, enter the first few shared characters, followed by an asterisk.
Phrase
Use Quotation marks (“Global Relay”) to target a specific set of words in a specific order.
